A Structured Program

As educators our program is founded on a structured schedule similar to that of a classroom.

Aftercare Daily Routine

  • Phase 1: Snack

  • Phase 2: Homework Check / Learning Support

  • Phase 3: Structured Small Group Activity

  • Phase 4: Whole Group Activity

Learning Support

Each location has a certified educator to offer students educational learning support with their daily homework, so parents can pick up and rest assured their child’s homework is done….and done correctly!

Structured Activities

  • Small Group

Students are placed into small groups (up to 6) and are given a menu of activities they can choose from. They then rotate every 15-20 minutes, long enough to engage in an activity…but not so long they disengage.

    Menu Items can include

    Kinetic Sand

    Building Straws

    Legos

    Bionicals

    Dolls

    Board Games / Puzzles

    iPads (limited)

    Action Figures

    Outside Play

  • Whole Group

Our educators create weekly activities based on themes for whole group engagement.

    Whole Group Activities

    STEM

    Art

    Movement

    Music

    Friday Fun Day

Special Field Trips

On scheduled school closings and holidays, Active Minds uses this opportunity for both engaging educational field trips as well as field trips that get kids out and active!

Service Learning Projects

Throughout the year students will be engaged in hands on service learning projects that have kids learning about an issue, taking action, and then reflecting on what they have learned through that experience.

The Active Minds Family

Our Active Minds Families are part of a community that goes beyond aftercare or summer camp.  From Trunk-or-Treat to our monthly Parent Date Night to Holiday Bake Nights, we create an Active Minds community for all of our families.
